They recruited Myles Kennedy (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), formerly of The Mayfield Four, to complete the lineup. The band’s debut album, “One Day Remains,” was released in August 2004. This album achieved gold status in the United States by November 2004 and reached number 5 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The track “Metalingus” from this album was adopted by WWE Superstar Edge as his theme song. Despite some initial challenges with their record label, Wind-up Records, the band pursued their artistic vision.
In 2007, Alter Bridge released their second album, “Blackbird.” This album garnered critical acclaim and featured hit singles such as “Rise Today” and “Watch Over You.” “Watch Over You” also gained wider exposure as the featured song on VH-1’s “Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew.” The title track “Blackbird” included a guitar solo that was later recognized by Guitarist magazine as the greatest guitar solo of all time in 2011. Following extensive touring, the band released “AB III” in 2010, which marked a thematic shift towards darker subjects. The lead single, “Isolation,” topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, a significant achievement for the band. Subsequent albums like “Fortress” (2013), “The Last Hero” (2016), “Walk the Sky” (2019), and “Pawns & Kings” (2022) continued to build on their critical and commercial success, solidifying their reputation for dynamic songwriting and intense live performances. Their eighth self-titled album, “Alter Bridge,” was released in January 2026.
Over two decades, Alter Bridge has consistently evolved their sound, blending hard rock, heavy metal, and progressive elements. Their albums have explored themes ranging from hope and perseverance to doubt and self-determination.
