About

Amaral, formed in 1992, is a Spanish rock duo comprising Eva Amaral on vocals and Juan Aguirre on guitar. The duo met in Zaragoza, Spain, where Eva Amaral was involved with local punk rock and Acid Rain, and Juan Aguirre played with Días de Vino y Rosas. Their collaboration began shortly after, focusing on original material. In 1997, they relocated to Madrid and secured a significant recording contract with EMI. Their musical style primarily falls under pop rock, often integrating Latin rhythms, folk rock elements, synthesizers, and poetic lyrics influenced by traditional Spanish folk music. Juan Aguirre, born in San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa, and Eva Amaral, from Zaragoza, draw inspiration for their songwriting from cinema, personal relationships, and literature.

Over their career, Amaral has released nine studio albums, one EP, two live albums, and three live DVDs. A notable achievement was their 2002 album, “Estrella de mar,” which earned them an MTV Europe Music Award and was nominated in five additional categories. This album contributed significantly to their status as one of Spain’s best-selling musical groups. Their discography also includes “Amaral” (1998), “Una pequeña parte del mundo” (2000), “Pájaros en la cabeza” (2005), “Gato negro◆Dragón rojo” (2008), “Hacia lo salvaje” (2011), “Nocturnal” (2015), and “Salto al color” (2019). Their most recent album, “Dolce Vita,” was released in 2025. They have collaborated with various artists over the years, including Beto Cuevas on “Te Necesito” and Chetes on “Si Tú No Vuelves.

With a career spanning over three decades, Amaral has cultivated a devoted international fanbase. Their consistent output of critically and commercially successful albums, combined with their distinctive sound, has solidified their position in the Spanish music industry and beyond. Their work reflects a commitment to artistic vision, integrating diverse influences while maintaining a coherent musical identity. This approach has allowed them to appeal to a broad audience and maintain relevance in the evolving music landscape.
