Amber Mark was born on December 29, 1993, in Summertown, Tennessee, to a Jamaican father and a German mother. Her early life involved extensive global travel, living in diverse locations such as Miami, New York, Munich, and a monastery in Darjeeling, India, where her mother studied Tibetan Buddhist thangka painting. During her time in Berlin, Mark independently developed guitar skills. She later attended Talent Unlimited High School in Manhattan and Miami Beach Senior High, where she participated in the choir and a rock ensemble, demonstrating an early aptitude for music. In her late teenage years, Mark experienced the loss of her mother to breast cancer, a pivotal event that profoundly influenced her work.
Mark initiated her professional music career in 2016 by releasing her debut single “Space” on SoundCloud. Her first EP, “3:33am,” followed in May 2017. The EP’s title and thematic content were directly inspired by personal observations and the stages of grief following her mother’s passing, with each track representing a different stage. Notably, the song “Monsoon” incorporated samples of her mother’s voice, adding a personal dimension to her artistic expression. In 2018, she released another EP, “Conexão,” which included the single “Love Me Right.” Her debut album, “Three Dimensions Deep,” was released in January 2022, followed by her sophomore album, “Pretty Idea,” in October 2025. This latter album featured a collaboration with Anderson .Paak and received endorsements from publications such as Pitchfork, Clash, NME, and Wonderland.
Beyond her solo work, Mark has engaged in notable collaborations. She was a featured artist on Chromeo’s 2018 album “Head over Heels,” which subsequently received a nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. Her recording “Heat” with Paul Woolford achieved a UK Singles Chart position of 61 in 2021 and was certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). In August 2026, Amber Mark was appointed as a Global Brand Ambassador, further expanding her professional engagements within the industry.
