Amenazzy

José Daniel Betances, known as Amenazzy, was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, in 1995. His musical journey began at an early age, first gaining recognition in local freestyle rap battles, where he was known as El Nene. In 2013, he marked his initial collaborative effort, featuring on “Despues del Party” by Los Mellos on the Track. This early exposure led to further collaborations and the release of his own singles. His career saw a significant launch in 2015 with the release of “La Chanty,” which quickly accumulated millions of views on YouTube. In 2016, he released additional singles such as “Me Hace Falta” and “Sin Maquillaje,” which featured Don Miguelo. His debut album, “Phenomenon,” was released in 2017.

Amenazzy’s career continued to progress through various collaborations that expanded his reach. In 2017, he collaborated with Bad Bunny on the track “Lean.” His 2018 collaboration, “Baby,” with Farruko and Nicky Jam, accumulated hundreds of millions of views on its official video by the end of the decade. He performed at Madison Square Garden in April 2018 and later became a headliner at Santiago’s la Arena del Cibao on November 16, 2019, followed by a performance at Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez, alongside artists like Daddy Yankee. Between 2020 and 2021, Amenazzy released or featured on nearly two dozen singles, including “Jalapeno,” “Calmarme,” and “No Te Enamores” with Milly, Farruko, Nio Garcia, and Jay Wheeler. He released the eight-song EP “Santo Niño” in 2021, featuring artists such as Noriel, Eladio Carrion, Brray, Wheeler, and Don Miguelo.

Throughout his career, Amenazzy has been recognized for his versatile musical style, blending R&B, reggaeton, and trap romantico. His mentor, Alex Gárgolas, contributed to his numerous collaborations with artists like Bryant Myers, El Alfa, Lary Over, Arcangel, and Farruko. A notable collaboration was “Desierto” with Don Omar, where Amenazzy’s blend of R&B and reggaeton, combined with lyric-centric production, was highlighted. He maintains an approach focused on continuous artistic exploration, as reflected in his statement, “I have no limits. That’s my objective – no limits.”
