About

Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo, known professionally as Amir Tataloo, was born on September 21, 1987, in Majidieh, Tehran, Iran. He began his music career in 2003, releasing songs through his personal blog during the early development of Persian hip hop and underground music in Iran. Operating outside the official music industry due to lack of authorization from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Tataloo quickly gained significant popularity through online platforms and social media. He became one of the most recognized figures in the Iranian underground music scene, attracting a large following, particularly among younger audiences in Iran.

Throughout his career, Tataloo has incorporated elements of pop, hip hop, rap, and contemporary R&B into his musical style. His debut album, “Zire Hamkaf,” was released in 2011, followed by 20 subsequent albums. Key musical milestones include releasing “Manam Yeki az un Yazdahtam” for the Iranian National Football Team during the 2014 FIFA World Cup and “Energy Hastei” in 2015, a song supporting the Iranian nuclear program. The music video for “Energy Hastei” was filmed on the Iranian navy ship *Damavand* and sparked significant public discussion. In 2015, he was introduced as a peace ambassador by the Tehran Peace Museum after his music video “Shohada” (The Martyrs) was praised by Iran-Iraq war veterans.

Tataloo faced multiple arrests by Iranian authorities in 2016 and 2018. Following these arrests and the denial of a music activity license, he relocated to Turkey in 2018 to continue his music production and hold concerts. His fanbase, known as “Tatalities,” is notable for its dedication; in 2016, fans protested for his release from prison, and in 2019 and 2020, they helped him set records for most comments on Instagram and most viewers on an Instagram live broadcast, respectively. In 2021, he released the album “Fereshteh” through Universal Music Group, becoming the first Iranian artist to collaborate with the label. Tataloo returned to Iran in late 2023, where he was immediately arrested. He was subsequently sentenced to death for blasphemy in January 2025 by an Iranian court, a decision upheld by the Supreme Court in May 2025.
