Jimir Reece Davis, known professionally as Amorphous, was born on December 31, 1997. Raised in Huntingdon Valley, near Philadelphia, he developed an early interest in music production using the Timbaland PSP game Beaterator. He pursued his education in film, graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Full Sail University in 2018. After college, Amorphous moved to Los Angeles to begin a professional music career. However, he faced financial difficulties and returned home, continuing to refine his music production skills.
Amorphous gained significant public attention in 2020 through his distinctive mashups. A pivotal moment occurred when his mashup of Luther Vandross’s “Never Too Much” and Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” went viral on Twitter, accumulating millions of views. This led to a collaboration with Fat Joe and DJ Khaled on the 2021 single “Sunshine (The Light),” which featured his viral mashup and charted on the Bubbling Under Hot 100. This collaboration marked a turning point, propelling him into mainstream recognition.
Following his viral success, Amorphous released his debut EP, “Things Take Shape,” in July 2021, which included collaborations with artists such as Kelly Rowland, James Fauntleroy, Kehlani, and Brandy. He also contributed to Mariah Carey’s “Butterfly” 25th Anniversary Club Remix. In 2023, Amorphous served on the musical arrangement team for Beyoncé’s highly successful Renaissance World Tour, further solidifying his presence within the music industry. His career demonstrates a progression from an online viral sensation to a respected producer working with prominent global artists.
