Haydon Wiginton

Haydon Wiginton, a native of Midlothian, Texas, grew up immersed in football, a sport deeply rooted in his family with his father and grandfather both having played at the collegiate level. He attended Midlothian Heritage High School where he played wide receiver, leading his team to the playoffs for four consecutive seasons, including reaching the Class 4A Division I state quarterfinals during his junior year. In his senior year, Wiginton achieved a significant milestone by recording 77 receptions for over 1,000 receiving yards. His academic and athletic efforts were recognized with two first-team All-District 5-4A selections and a second-team Academic All-State honor.

Wiginton began his collegiate athletic career at Oklahoma State, where he redshirted during the 2021 season. He then transferred to Texas Tech University, maintaining four years of eligibility. As a Red Raider, he contributed to the football team from 2022 to 2025, primarily as a wide receiver and special teams player. During his redshirt freshman season in 2022, he appeared in one game, securing one reception for seven yards. In 2023, his sophomore year, he participated in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl. For the 2024 season, he played in five games, appearing in multiple Big 12 matchups. His senior year in 2025 saw him participate in all 14 games, contributing significantly to special teams and catching one pass for three yards against UCF, earning him the offensive scout team player of the week.

Alongside his athletic pursuits, Wiginton developed a passion for music, picking up the guitar in 2020. This led to a parallel career as a country music artist, where he has released three albums: ‘Talk Funny’ (2023), ‘West Texas Dirt (Part One)’ (2024), and ‘West Texas Dirt’ (2025). His music has gained considerable traction, accumulating over 30,000 monthly listens on Spotify. He has performed across Texas, opening for established acts such as Randy Rogers Band and William Clark Green. Wiginton earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Texas Tech and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in the same field, with a goal of entering the coaching profession.
