After his career began to gain significant traction in 2020 following the viral success of his freestyle track ‘Lady,’ Asake went on to establish his presence with the single ‘Mr Money’ in 2020. The track’s success led to a remix featuring collaborations with artists Peruzzi and Zlatan. Immediately following his signing, Asake released his debut extended play, ‘Ololade,’ in 2022, which featured the breakthrough track ‘Omo Ope’ with Olamide and the popular single ‘Sungba.’ His momentum intensified in July 2022 with a distribution deal with Empire, significantly expanding his global audience reach.
His live performances captivated international audiences, highlighted by selling out the O2 Arena in London in August 2023 and the Barclays Center in New York City in September 2023. He further elevated his profile with appearances on major US television programs, including Good Morning America in 2023 and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in 2024. In 2024, Asake released his highly anticipated third album, ‘Lungu Boy,’ which marked his third consecutive number one album in Nigeria. ‘Lungu Boy’ also set a new record for the biggest opening day global streams for a Nigerian album on Spotify, achieving 9.2 million streams.
The album featured high-profile collaborations with international artists Central Cee, Stormzy, Wizkid, Travis Scott, and Ludmilla.
