Norway Astrid Smeplass, known professionally as Astrid S, has emerged from Norwegian Pop Idol contestant to an internationally recognized singer, songwriter, and actress.
Astrid S released her first single as Astrid S, '2AM', through Universal Music in 2014. She also released her debut album 'Leave It Beautiful' through Universal.
Astrid S has collaborated with JP Cooper on several versions of the song 'Sing It with Me', including official, stripped back, and lyrical versions.
In April 2019, Astrid S became the face of Fendi's F for Fendi campaign, featuring her in a short movie.
Astrid S collaborated with country singer Brett Young on the song 'I Do', which peaked at No. 3 in Norway.

Astrid Smeplass, born on October 29, 1996, in Norway, began her musical journey at a young age in Berkåk, a village in Rennebu Municipality. She initially played piano and flute before learning guitar and starting to write her own songs. In 2013, she gained public recognition by participating in the Norwegian version of Pop Idol, “Idol – Jakten på en superstjerne,” where she placed fifth at the age of 16. Following her appearance on Idol, Astrid Smeplass released her first single “Shattered” and secured a publishing deal with Sony ATV Music Publishing.
Her professional music career saw a significant turning point in 2014 with the release of her single “2AM” through Universal Music, marking her artist rebranding as Astrid S. This led to her debut extended play, “Astrid S,” in 2016, which featured the popular song “Hurts So Good.” She continued to build her presence with her second EP, “Party’s Over,” in 2017, and performed as a supporting act for artists like Troye Sivan. Her talents extended to acting, playing Askepott (Cinderella) in the 2021 Norwegian film “Three Wishes for Cinderella.
Astrid S has expanded her career into various collaborations and tours, supporting major artists such as Years & Years and Zara Larsson. Her debut studio album, “Leave It Beautiful,” was released in 2020. In 2025, she transitioned to independent music releases under her own label, Joyride, through a distribution deal with Gladstone Music Group, showcasing her evolving business acumen within the music industry. Her recent musical endeavors include charting successes with her interpretations on the TV show “Hver gang vi møtes,” demonstrating her continued impact on the Norwegian music scene.
