Motionless In White was established in 2004 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Initially performing under names like “One Way Ticket” and “When Breathing Stops,” the band adopted its current name in 2005. The original lineup included Chris “Motionless” Cerulli on guitar and vocals, Angelo Parente on drums, Frank Polumbo on guitar, and Kyle White on bass. In 2005, they self-released a demo. The band’s early days involved performing at local venues, which led to their discovery by talent scout Zach Neil. Neil signed them to Masquerade Recordings, resulting in the release of their debut EP, “The Whorror,” in 2007 through Masquerade Records/Warner Music Group.
Following “The Whorror,” Motionless In White recorded their first full-length album, “When Love Met Destruction,” in 2008. During this period, Zach Neil secured a slot for the band on the Warped Tour, where they attracted the attention of Fearless Records. Fearless Records acquired the band’s recording contract, and “When Love Met Destruction” was officially released in February 2009. The song “Ghost in the Mirror” became their first single, accompanied by a music video. Subsequent lineup changes saw Ryan Sitkowski join as guitarist and Ricky “Horror” Olson take over bass, eventually moving to rhythm guitar. Drummer Angelo Parente departed in 2013, replaced by Brandon Richter, solidifying Chris Motionless as the sole original member. Josh Balz, keyboardist since 2006, left in 2017.
The band’s career progressed with significant album releases and extensive touring. Their album “Creatures” (2010), produced by Andrew Wade, reached No. 175 on the Billboard Top 200 and No. 6 on the Heatseekers chart. “Infamous” (2012) peaked at No. 53 on the Billboard 200 and No. 5 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart. “Reincarnate” (2014) further built on their sound, and they performed on the main stage of the Vans Warped Tour. A pivotal moment occurred in 2016 when they signed with Roadrunner Records, leading to the album “Graveyard Shift” (2017). After the departure of bassist Devin “Ghost” Sola in 2018, Justin Morrow joined in 2019, contributing to “Disguise” (2019), which hit No. 27 on the Billboard Top 200. Their most commercially successful album to date, “Scoring the End of the World” (2022), reached No. 12 on the Billboard Top 200 and topped the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart, featuring collaborations with Bryan Garris of Knocked Loose and Mick Gordon.
