Emerging from the vibrant Dhaka music scene in 1998, Aurthohin swiftly became a torchbearer of Bangladeshi alternative rock. Comprising Saidus Sumon, Tonmoy Rahman, Ponir, and Rumi Rahman, the band’s revolutionary ethos shook the very foundations of the local rock scene, earning them a reputation as pioneers of the genre. Aurthohin played a pivotal role in fostering a thriving rock and metal community in Bangladesh, advocating for underground bands and promoting the genre across the nation.
Their musical journey, spanning 8 studio albums and collaborations on mixed releases, showcases a fearless spirit of experimentation. While rooted in rock, Aurthohin fearlessly delved into progressive metal and groove metal, expanding the boundaries of their sound. Saidus Sumon’s mastery of slap bass infused their music with elements of funk-rock, setting them apart as innovators in their field.
Signing with G-Series marked a milestone in Aurthohin’s career, leading to the release of acclaimed albums like “Trimatrik” and “Biborton.” Hits such as “Adbhut Shei Cheleti,” “Amar Proticchobi,” and “Anmone” captivated audiences, solidifying their status as icons of Bangladeshi rock.
Their magnum opus, “Aushomapto 2,” released in 2011 under the ME Label, drew inspiration from an eclectic mix of musical influences, including alternative, blues, and the timeless melodies of John Denver’s country music.
Despite lineup changes, Saidus Sumon remained the band’s unwavering anchor, guiding them to numerous accolades, including Channel i and Citycell’s Best Band of the Year awards in 2008 and 2011, respectively.
As Aurthohin continues their musical journey with a trio lineup comprising Saidus Khaled Sumon, Mark Don, and Mahaan Fahim, their legacy as pioneers of Bangladeshi alternative rock remains unmatched, inspiring generations with their unparalleled passion and groundbreaking musical innovation.
