Avi Kaplan

Avi Kaplan transitioned from the vocal bass of Grammy-winning a cappella group Pentatonix to a critically acclaimed folk singer-songwriter, releasing multiple EPs and a debut studio album. After earning the prestigious ‘Best Rhythm Section’ award for vocal bass at the 2009 International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) with his group Fermata Nowhere, Avi Kaplan quickly ascended to mainstream success. Kaplan’s unique vocal talents, honed through studies in opera and choral studies at Mt. San Antonio College, including participation in the vocal jazz ensemble Singcopation, were integral to Fermata Nowhere’s victory at the 2009 ICCA, where his specific award marked a first for the vocal bass category.

In April 2025, he formed the ‘Oregon Forest Choir’ for a special performance during his ‘Move Our Souls’ EP tour, showcasing his ongoing innovation within the folk and vocal music spheres. His consistent output and unique approach to music solidify his standing as a compelling and bookable talent, recognized for both his groundbreaking ensemble work and his impactful solo career.
