Ayu Rosmalina, better known by her stage name Ayu Ting Ting, is a celebrated Indonesian dangdut singer who achieved national fame in 2011 with her hit song “Alamat Palsu” (“Fake Address”), originally released in 2006. The stage name “Ting Ting,” meaning “virgin,” reflects her fresh and youthful persona.
Ayu began her music career at the age of 14 as a wedding singer, earning Rp. 250,000 (approximately US$28) per performance. That same year, she was crowned Miss Depok. Her early dedication to music led to the release of her solo album “Dilanjut Aja” (“Just Continue”) in 2007.
In 2010, Ayu pursued higher education at Gunadarma University, where she enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in management. Despite her academic commitments, her passion for music never waned. Ayu is an ardent fan of K-pop, which complements her love for dangdut—a genre she excels in. She has expressed admiration for dangdut singer Dewi Persik, particularly praising Persik’s “goyang gergaji” (“saw move”) for its skill and confidence.
Ayu’s popularity surged, and by September 2017, her fame had extended internationally. She was invited to perform at KBS Music Bank in South Korea, where she showcased her versatility by performing K-pop songs.
Her discography includes hits like “Sambaldo,” “Suara Hati,” and “Geboy Mujair.” Ayu’s influence extends beyond music; she has amassed over 56 million followers on her Instagram account, ayutingting92. Her iconic song “Alamat Palsu” was even covered by fellow entertainer Olga Syahputra.
Ayu Ting Ting continues to be a significant figure in Indonesian pop culture, known for her captivating performances and contributions to the dangdut genre.
