Baroness has established itself globally as a progressive force in heavy metal, known for its dynamic sound and consistent artistic evolution. After forming in 2003, Baroness quickly established itself as a progressive force in heavy metal, releasing a self-titled demo the same year. Their debut extended play, ‘First,’ recorded in November 2003, was officially released in August 2004 by Hyperrealist Records, followed by ‘Second’ in 2005. By March 2007, Baroness signed with Relapse Records, releasing their debut studio album, ‘Red Album,’ in September 2007.
Signing with Q Prime Management in 2010, they released ‘Yellow & Green’ in 2012, charting at number 30 on the Billboard 200 and named a top metal album by Entertainment Weekly and Spin. Despite a bus crash in August 2012 that led to lineup changes, Baroness persevered, releasing ‘Purple’ in 2015 through their newly formed label, Abraxan Hymns. ‘Shock Me,’ the album’s lead single, reached number 28 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2016.
Their self-produced sixth studio album, ‘Stone,’ was announced in 2023, preceded by singles ‘Last Word,’ ‘Beneath the Rose,’ and ‘Shine.’ Following its critically praised release, Baroness immediately commenced another North American tour. Looking ahead, the band has begun writing a new album and announced the ‘Red and Blue’ North American tour, both for 2025, affirming their ongoing evolution.
