Bear Hands is an American post-punk and indie rock band formed in 2006 in Brooklyn, New York. The band consists of Dylan Rau (vocals and guitar), Val Loper (bass), and TJ Orscher (drums), with Ted Feldman (guitar) joining shortly after. They gained significant attention in 2010 with the release of their debut single “What a Drag” under Cantora Records, marking the beginning of their professional journey in the music industry.
In 2010, Bear Hands released their first LP, “Burning Bush Supper Club,” which showcased their unique sound and solidified their presence in the indie rock scene. Following the album’s release, they toured extensively, opening for notable acts such as Passion Pit and GZA, which helped them reach a wider audience. Their single “Giants” became a top-ten hit on the Alternative Songs chart in 2014, further establishing their reputation as a leading band in the genre.
The band’s dynamic live performances have been a hallmark of their career, with appearances at prestigious music festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and the Reading and Leeds Festivals. In 2024, Bear Hands re-signed with Cantora Records, now under Rostrum Records, signaling an exciting new chapter in their career.
