Bob Moses is a Canadian electronic music duo composed of Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance. Both artists attended St. George’s School in Vancouver, where they were acquaintances but did not initially collaborate. Vallance later moved to New York City, working in record engineering and producing trance and progressive house music, including remixes for Sia. Howie, after studying at Berklee College of Music, also moved to New York. The two reconnected and began making music together, blending Howie’s rock background with Vallance’s electronic music expertise. Their debut EP, “Hands to Hold,” was released in October 2012 by Scissor & Thread, followed by “Far from the Tree.” They signed with Domino Records in March 2014, marking a significant step in their career.
The duo’s debut album, “Days Gone By,” was released on September 18, 2015. The song “Tearing Me Up” became a notable success, earning Grammy Award nominations for Best Dance Recording and Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, with the remix by RAC winning the latter in 2017. Their performance of “Tearing Me Up” on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in January 2016 further expanded their public profile. In August 2016, they released “Days Gone By: Never Enough Edition,” featuring remixes and bonus tracks. Later, in February 2017, Bob Moses was nominated for Live Act of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards, acknowledging their live performances. Their discography continued to grow with “Battle Lines” in 2018 and the “Desire” EP in 2020. They released “The Silence In Between” in 2022 and have a new album, “Blink,” scheduled for October 17, 2025.
Bob Moses has performed at various global music events and venues, including Bonnaroo, TomorrowWorld, Ultra Music Festival, Governors Ball, and Coachella. They have been recognized by Resident Advisor as a top live act in 2014 and 2015. Their music has also been featured on BBC Radio 1, including an ‘Essential Mix’ debut and a live performance from Maida Vale Studios. Their Canadian roots, particularly their exposure to Canadian alternative rock radio, have influenced their musical perspective, contributing to their unique sound that bridges electronic and rock genres. The duo considers a lifelong career in music a realistic and valued goal.
