After performing on Red Foley’s ABC-TV program, ‘Ozark Jubilee,’ in February 1955, Brenda Lee became a regular cast member in 1956, marking her national breakthrough. After debuting on local television’s ‘TV Ranch’ in 1952, she appeared on national programs like ‘The Perry Como Show’ and ‘The Ed Sullivan Show.’ In May 1956, Lee signed with Decca Records. Her third single, ‘One Step at a Time,’ became her first chart record in 1957.
