Brian Edward Kelley, born on August 26, 1985, in Ormond Beach, Florida, developed an early passion for both sports and music. Growing up, he divided his time between playing baseball and writing music, even leading worship at his church. After graduating from Seabreeze High School in 2004 and Daytona State College in 2007, where he played college baseball and was scouted by professional teams, Kelley decided to pursue his musical aspirations. He then moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University.
At Belmont University in 2007, Kelley met Tyler Hubbard, and the two quickly formed a close friendship, bonding over their shared interest in writing and playing music. This partnership led to the formation of Florida Georgia Line. In 2010, the duo independently released their first EP, ‘Anything Like Me.’ Their breakthrough came in 2012 with the release of their second EP, ‘It’z Just What We Do,’ which included the hit single ‘Cruise.’ ‘Cruise’ achieved significant success, topping the Country Airplay chart and becoming one of the best-selling country digital songs of all time. This success led to a record deal with Republic Nashville and Big Machine Label Group, launching Florida Georgia Line into mainstream country music prominence.
Throughout his career with Florida Georgia Line, Kelley co-released four more studio albums: ‘Anything Goes’ (2014), ‘Dig Your Roots’ (2016), ‘Can’t Say I Ain’t Country’ (2019), and ‘Life Rolls On’ (2021). In 2015, he co-founded Tree Vibez Music, an artist development and music publishing company, and later co-launched Round Here Records in 2019. In 2021, Kelley began a solo career, releasing his debut EP ‘BK’s Wave Pack’ and full-length album ‘Sunshine State of Mind’ through his own Nashville South Records in partnership with Warner Music Nashville. He later moved to Big Machine Records in 2022 and has continued to release solo singles and albums, including ‘Tennessee Truth’ (2024) and ‘Ed & Mary Margaret’s Son’ (2024), while also appearing on ‘The Masked Singer’ in 2025.
