Brutus is a dynamic Belgian rock band formed in 2013 in Leuven, consisting of the talented trio Stefanie Mannaerts (vocals and drums), Stijn Vanhoegaerden (guitar), and Peter Mulders (bass). The band emerged from a rich local music scene, with members previously playing in various bands, which laid the foundation for their unique sound. Their professional journey began with frequent performances across Belgium, establishing a strong local following before making their international debut with the album “Burst” in 2017, released through Hassle Records. This album garnered critical acclaim and helped them secure a deal with Sargent House for worldwide distribution.
Following the success of their debut, Brutus continued to evolve their sound with the release of their second album, “Nest,” in 2019. This album showcased their growth as artists and included the lead single “War,” which further solidified their presence in the post-hardcore and post-metal scenes. Their first U.S. tour in 2019, including a performance at Deftones’ Dia de los Deftones festival, marked a significant milestone in their career, expanding their audience and influence.
In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Brutus released their first live album, “Live in Ghent,” in 2020, capturing the energy of their sold-out show and demonstrating their commitment to connecting with fans. The band continued to thrive, announcing their third album, “Unison Life,” in 2022, which was met with enthusiasm and included multiple successful singles.
Brutus’s musical style is characterized by a blend of post-rock, mathcore, and shoegaze influences, earning them praise from critics and fans alike. Their innovative sound and powerful performances have positioned them as a leading force in the contemporary rock scene, with a busy touring schedule that includes appearances at major festivals in 2023. With each release, Brutus continues to push boundaries and captivate audiences, solidifying their reputation as a formidable band in the global music landscape.
