Bunkface has established themselves as a prominent Malaysian rock band, achieving national recognition and international performances throughout their career. After winning the Band Rakan Seni Budaya competition in 2006, Bunkface made their mark on the Malaysian music scene. In December 2007, the band released their debut six-track English EP, ‘Lesson of the Season,’ blending pop-punk and alternative rock. The EP featured the hit single ‘Silly Lily,’ which charted for eight weeks on hitz.fm’s Malaysian Top Ten and ten weeks on Fly.fm’s Campur Chart.
They made their international debut that same year at the One Movement For Music festival in Perth, Australia. March 2010 saw the release of their first full-length album, ‘Phobia Phoney,’ which included the popular TM campaign song, ‘Through My Window.’ In July 2010, Bunkface represented Malaysia at the MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia, performing at Sunway Lagoon alongside global acts like Katy Perry, Tokio Hotel, and Wonder Girls. This period also saw them win ‘Popular Duo/Group Singer’ at the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian (2009), ‘Best Rock Song’ for ‘Situasi,’ and ‘Anugerah Kembara’ at the Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) in 2010, alongside becoming Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) finalists in both 2009 and 2010. The band continued to expand their international footprint.
Their 15th anniversary in 2022 was marked by a two-night concert, ’15 Years of Korang,’ followed by a solo ‘Rock In Borneo’ concert in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, in 2023. Most recently, in 2024, Bunkface returned to the prestigious Dewan Filharmonik Petronas for a solo concert, captivating over 1,000 attendees with 20 hits.
