Bunkface

Formed in 2006, Bunkface stands as a cornerstone of the Malaysian rock scene, captivating audiences with their infectious energy and anthemic tunes. Comprising lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Sam (Shamsul Anuar), bass guitarist Youk (Farouk Jaafar), lead guitarist Paan (Ahmad Farhan), and drummer Biak (Alif Sufian), the band’s moniker was inspired by the Sum 41 song “Crazy Amanda Bunkface,” a testament to their punk-rock roots.

With a diverse repertoire spanning punk rock, pop punk, alternative rock, and pop, Bunkface has amassed a dedicated following of “Bunkers” drawn to their electrifying performances and relatable lyrics. Hits like “Silly Lily,” “Revolusi,” and “Malam Ini Kita Punya” have solidified their status as chart-toppers, while their music videos, including “Through My Window” and “Ekstravaganza,” showcase their dynamic creativity.

In 2014, Bunkface made waves with their album “Malam Ini Kita Punya,” featuring tracks penned and composed by Sam. This milestone release, produced by Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia, marked a new chapter in their musical journey and earned them widespread acclaim.

Beyond their musical endeavors, Bunkface has graced international stages, including the prestigious 2015 Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo, Japan. Despite their success, the band remains grounded, citing influences like Sum 41, Green Day, and Blink 182 as driving forces behind their sound.
