Cailin Russo was born in San Diego, California, to rock musician Scott Russo and Jodi Russo. She was raised in the Rancho Penasquitos neighborhood. Her introduction to the public eye began somewhat “accidentally” through modeling, where she quickly gained recognition. Early in her career, she modeled for various prominent brands including Forever 21, Wildfox Couture, Ocean Pacific, PacSun, American Apparel, Free People, and Brandy Melville. A significant turn in her early career came when she was cast as Justin Bieber’s love interest in his music videos for “All That Matters” and “Confident,” which provided her with widespread exposure.
Transitioning into music, Russo became the lead singer of her eponymous band, RUSSO. In 2018, the band released an EP titled “House with a Pool.” Her musical achievements expanded with a notable collaboration on the song “Phoenix” alongside Chrissy Costanza, produced for the 2019 League of Legends World Championship. This track garnered over 140 million streams, highlighting her reach in both the music and gaming communities. Further solidifying her presence in the music industry, Cailin Russo received a Grammy nomination as a songwriter for her contributions to Kanye West’s song “Hurricane,” featured on his 2021 album “Donda.
As an independent artist, Cailin Russo continued to evolve her career. In 2022, she released “Die Down,” the first single from her debut album “INFLUX,” which was subsequently launched on March 3, 2023. The album’s success is reflected by her accumulating over 1.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Demonstrating an innovative approach to music distribution, Cailin has also begun releasing her new music through Web3 platforms. Her career showcases a continuous progression from modeling to a respected recording artist with acclaimed collaborations and independent releases, establishing her as a versatile talent across multiple creative fields.
