Deep Sea Diver

Deep Sea Diver originated in 2007 as the project of Jessica Dobson, a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. She initially recorded the EP “New Caves” in 2009 with her husband and drummer, Peter Mansen. The band officially formed as an indie rock group based in Seattle, Washington, with a core lineup that later expanded to include Garrett Gue on bass and Elliot Jackson on guitar and synthesizer. Dobson’s early career involved touring with notable acts such as The Shins, Beck, Spoon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Shins, experiences that refined her fierce guitar playing before she focused on her own band.

In 2012, Deep Sea Diver released their first full-length album, “History Speaks,” independently under their High Beam Records label. This marked a significant step in their discography, followed by “Secrets” in 2016, also self-published. The band continued to evolve, consistently creating and releasing new music. In 2020, they released “Impossible Weight” through ATO Records, an album that gained significant recognition and was voted KEXP Seattle Listeners’ Top Album of 2020. This period also saw them adapting to new recording methods, including producing new material during the COVID-19 lockdown, demonstrating their adaptability and dedication to their craft.

Deep Sea Diver has continued to achieve career milestones, including supporting the band Pearl Jam on their Fall 2023 North American tour. A major turning point occurred in September 2024 when they signed with Sub Pop Records, signaling a new phase in their career. Their upcoming album, “Billboard Heart,” set for release in February 2025, is anticipated to feature collaborations with artists like Madison Cunningham and reflects a renewed artistic vision. The band regularly engages with their fanbase through platforms like Bandcamp and maintains an active presence on social media, communicating directly about new releases, tour dates, and special merchandise.
