Cannibal Corpse has established itself as a pioneering and enduring force in death metal, consistently delivering their signature brutal sound across decades. After signing with Metal Blade Records in July 1989, just eight months after their formation, Cannibal Corpse went on to release their debut album, ‘Eaten Back to Life,’ in August 1990. Comprised of founding members Alex Webster, Jack Owen, Paul Mazurkiewicz, Chris Barnes, and Bob Rusay, the band quickly garnered local recognition, performing at venues like Buffalo’s River Rock Cafe and opening for established acts such as Dark Angel and Death. Following their relocation to Tampa, Florida, the band solidified their presence in the emerging death metal scene, releasing their second album, ‘Butchered at Birth,’ in July 1991, which was followed by a successful European tour with Atheist and Gorguts in 1992.

Their enduring influence and consistent stylistic approach have earned them recognition from publications such as OC Weekly and Forbes, who have hailed them as ‘the undisputed kings of death metal’ and one of ‘metal’s most notorious and celebrated bands.’ In 2017, Cannibal Corpse released ‘Red Before Black.’ Erik Rutan joined as a touring guitarist in 2019, officially becoming a member for their fifteenth studio album, ‘Violence Unimagined,’ released in 2021. This album marked a career highlight, becoming their first Top 10 appearance on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart, selling 14,000 copies in its first week. The band continued their legacy of brutal and technical death metal with their latest offering, ‘Chaos Horrific,’ released in 2023. With sixteen studio albums to their name, Cannibal Corpse maintains a consistent global touring presence and an unyielding commitment to their iconic sound.
