Celine Dion is one of the biggest recording artists in history. She has sold over 200 million records worldwide and has countless fans across the globe.
Dion started out from humble beginnings, being born in Canada to a family with 14 children. Her mother realised she was talented from a young age, and sent a demo to Rene Angelil, who would later become Dion’s manager and husband. She began to land performances on TV, the first being on Michel Jasmin’s talk show when she was 13, and then went on to win the Yamaha World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo where she performed in front of an audience of 115 million TV viewers. In the 1988 Eurovision song contest she led Switzerland to victory and her career went from strength to strength as she learned English and was signed to Epic Records in America. Dion began to release albums which shot to the top of the charts, including Let’s Talk About Love and Falling Into You. It was during this time that she also released what would become her best known single, My Heart Will Go On. The track was used as the theme song for the 1997 blockbuster Titanic and Dion’s place in the music hall of fame was secured. In 2003 she began a five year residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, a show which would go on to be seen by over 3 million spectators.
Having performed for President Clinton, sung at the Olympics Opening Ceremony in Atlanta and performed multiple times at the Oscars, there aren’t many musical highs Dion hasn’t achieved. She has now released 27 studio albums, and continues to tour and perform globally.
