CKY, an American rock band formed in 1998 in West Chester, Pennsylvania, has made significant contributions to the music scene, particularly within the alternative rock and post-grunge genres. The founding members, vocalist and guitarist Deron Miller, guitarist Chad I Ginsburg, and drummer Jess Margera, quickly gained recognition through their association with the CKY video series and the Jackass TV series, which showcased their energetic sound and unique style. Their debut album, Volume 1, released in 1999, laid the groundwork for their future success, featuring tracks that resonated with fans and were prominently featured in Bam Margera’s videos.
In 2002, CKY signed with The Island Def Jam Music Group and released their second studio album, Infiltrate•Destroy•Rebuild, which marked their first experience of chart success, reaching number 99 on the US Billboard 200. The album’s single, “Flesh into Gear,” further solidified their presence in the rock scene. Following this, the band toured extensively, including a high-profile stint opening for Guns N’ Roses, showcasing their ability to captivate large audiences.
After a series of lineup changes, including the departure of Miller in 2011, Ginsburg took over as frontman, leading the band into a new era. The release of The Phoenix in 2017 under Entertainment One Music demonstrated CKY’s resilience and adaptability, as they continued to evolve their sound while maintaining their core identity.
Most recently, CKY has been working on their upcoming album, New Reason to Dream, set for release in 2024. With a dedicated fanbase and a commitment to their craft, CKY remains a vital force in the rock music landscape, continually pushing boundaries and delivering powerful performances.
