Cody Fry

Cody Fry, born July 10, 1990, in Northfield, Illinois, developed his musical talents early, participating in various ensembles at New Trier High School before relocating to Nashville to study voice at Belmont University. His career gained national visibility in 2015 as a top 48 contestant on the 14th season of American Idol. Fry has cultivated a career as a versatile artist, releasing multiple albums across pop, rock, soul, and orchestral pop genres. His work is characterized by intricate arrangements and a blend of contemporary and classical influences.

In 2021, Fry’s song “I Hear a Symphony” achieved viral success on TikTok, subsequently charting in 38 countries on the Spotify Global Viral Charts and earning an RIAA Certified Gold Record. That same year, he received his first Grammy Award nomination for Best Arrangement, Instrumental and Vocals for his orchestral cover of The Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby.” A second Grammy nomination in the same category followed in 2025 for his arrangement of Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence.” These nominations highlight his skill as an arranger and his ability to reimagine classic songs with a modern orchestral approach.

Fry has performed at notable venues globally and collaborated with diverse artists and orchestras. In 2020, he performed with the Metropole Orkest for ‘Live in Amsterdam’ alongside Cory Wong. He has also appeared with Ben Rector and the National Symphony Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 2023, performing his songs “Underground” and “Photograph.” This partnership with Rector extended to a national tour with orchestras such as the Nashville Symphony, Pacific Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, and Cincinnati Pops, demonstrating his capacity for large-scale orchestral performances. Beyond his performances, Fry is actively involved in working with music students, addressing mental health topics, and promoting music education.
