Conner Smith

Conner Smith, born Conner Vickery Smith on September 6, 2000, in Nashville, Tennessee, established his career by signing his first publishing deal as a teenager. His early interest in music was influenced by his mother, Jennifer Vickery Smith, who worked in the country music industry and interviewed artists. This background led him to begin songwriting with Nashville songwriters Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell by the age of 20. In 2013, Smith was a participant in the Little League World Series as a member of the South Nashville team representing the Southeast Region.

Smith gained early recognition with the release of “I Hate Alabama” in late 2021, which achieved viral success on TikTok. This led to a record deal with Big Machine Records’ Valory label. In 2022, he released his extended play, “Didn’t Go Too Far,” which included the Top 40 hit “Learn From It” and the Gold-certified fan favorite “Take It Slow” (RIAA Gold, MC Gold). His debut album, “Smoky Mountains,” was released on January 26, 2024, and featured the Gold-certified, multi-week international chart-topper “Creek Will Rise.” “Creek Will Rise” notably became the first number one on the UK Country Airplay chart on March 10, 2024. Smith received his first ACM nomination for New Male Artist of the Year and made his cinematic debut with “Steal My Thunder (feat. Tucker Wetmore),” which was included in the summer blockbuster “Twisters.” He continued his artistic development with the release of “The Storyteller” in 2024, a five-song project that marked a period of introspection and clarity, coinciding with his 2024 headlining “THE STORYTELLER TOUR.” He is scheduled to co-headline the “DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS? TOUR” with Dylan Marlowe in 2025. On June 8, 2025, Smith was involved in a fatal car accident in Nashville, Tennessee, where he struck and killed 77-year-old pedestrian Dorothy Dobbins. He was issued a misdemeanor citation for failure to yield.
