Damien Escobar, also known as Dame Esco, is a distinguished American violinist whose career has evolved significantly since his early days as part of the duo Nuttin’ But Stringz with his brother Tourie. The duo gained recognition for their unique blend of classical and contemporary music, winning a talent contest at the Apollo Theater in 2005 and achieving third place on America’s Got Talent in 2008. Their performances included notable events such as the First inauguration of Barack Obama, showcasing their ability to captivate diverse audiences. Escobar’s early success laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors in music.
In 2012, after the duo’s separation, Escobar embarked on a solo career that has seen him explore a variety of musical styles, including pop, R&B, and hip-hop. His first solo performance on the French TV show Taratata marked the beginning of this new chapter. He released his debut solo album, “Sensual Melodies,” in 2014, followed by the pop single “Freedom,” which debuted at #15 on the iTunes chart. His innovative approach to music has allowed him to carve out a unique niche in the industry, further solidified by his second album, “Boundless,” which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award.
Escobar is not only a talented musician but also an author and philanthropist. In 2014, he published an autobiographical children’s book titled “The Sound of Strings,” and he has been actively involved in charitable work through his foundation, Violins Against Violence, and partnerships with organizations like UNICEF. His commitment to social causes is evident in his performances that raise awareness and funds for various initiatives, including a significant event for the Jamaica YMCA that raised over $50,000.
Continuing to inspire audiences, Escobar launched the “Life Out Loud” tour in 2022, encouraging people to live authentically and without regrets. As he prepares to release his upcoming album in 2023, Damien Escobar remains a dynamic force in the music industry, blending his classical roots with modern influences and making a positive impact through his art and philanthropy.
