A connection sparked 10 years ago in a tiny Utrecht club has flickered into a cross-country collaboration and a disarming debut from Lambert And Dekker.
In 2017, after a family-expanding pause from the road, Brookln found himself making the record We Share Phenomena with old friend Lambert. This whetted his appetite for more collaborations.
Brookln Dekker - has been performing as a solo artist since 2019 and works regularly with Berlin-based drummer Stefan Wittich, alongside mixing / mastering.

Brookln Dekker, originally from Chicago, established himself as a musician before making Nottingham his base in the UK. He co-founded the Anglo-American indie folk band Rue Royale with his wife, Ruth Dekker, in Chicago in 2006. The band released their debut EP, ‘The Search for Where to Go,’ in January 2007. Following a year of performing in Chicago, Rue Royale embarked on their first European tour in 2008, covering 31 concerts across six countries. This exposure led them to relocate to the UK to facilitate full-time European touring. By 2011, Rue Royale self-recorded and released their second album, ‘Guide to an Escape’.
Dekker expanded his musical endeavors beyond Rue Royale, collaborating with pianist Lambert to form Lambert & Dekker, a project exploring neo-classical semi-electronica. In 2017, he participated in recording ‘We Share Phenomena’ with Lambert. His solo career as Dekker commenced in 2019, culminating in the release of his album “Slow Reveal” on November 20, 2020. This solo project involved releasing one song at a time over twelve months, showcasing a unique approach to album promotion and personal artistic exploration. In May 2020, he released ‘Hands Clean’ as part of the ‘Slow Reveal’ project.
Throughout his career, Dekker’s music has been featured in various media, including MTV’s ‘Engaged and Underage,’ ‘Exiled,’ and ‘Teen Mom.’ His songs have also appeared in films, such as ‘The Collective’ (2008), and he performed on ZDFkultur’s ‘TV Noir’ in 2013. A significant milestone occurred in 2012 when J. Cole sampled Rue Royale’s “Flightline” in his song “Miss America,” which was part of the ‘Born Sinner’ album, charting on the Billboard 200. Dekker’s current ventures include working on his fourth album, ‘Neither Up Nor Down,’ slated for release on September 26 on his own label, Useful Fictions, and a ‘no-pressure’ daddy/daughter gig project with his five-year-old daughter, aimed at creating songs for other children. He continues to perform live, with past performances at venues like Jamcafé and Malt Cross.
