Delerium

Delerium, the Canadian electronic music duo, achieved widespread international recognition with their 1997 album Karma, which featured the global hit single ‘Silence’ featuring Sarah McLachlan. The track became a sensation, securing significant radio airplay and charting success, reaching number one on the Irish Singles Chart, number three in the UK, number four in Belgium, and number five in Australia by 2000. Formed in 1987 by Bill Leeb as a captivating side project to his industrial act Front Line Assembly, Delerium initially saw Leeb collaborating with Michael Balch, releasing early albums such as Faces, Forms and Illusions. Following Balch’s departure, Rhys Fulber joined Leeb, evolving the band’s distinctive blend of ambient, worldbeat, and trance into a more danceable style that incorporated diverse musical elements and guest vocalists.

Delerium continued to build on this success, earning their first Juno Award for Best Dance Recording in 1998 for ‘Euphoria (Rabbit in the Moon Mix).’ Their follow-up Juno Award for Best Dance Recording came in 2000 for ‘Silence,’ cementing its status as an iconic track in electronic music. After a temporary departure by Fulber, Leeb collaborated with Chris Peterson on the 2000 album Poem. Fulber later reunited with Leeb for further acclaimed albums, including Chimera in 2003 and Nuages du Monde in 2006. The duo embarked on their first Delerium tour in 2003, and in 2005, delivered a memorable performance of ‘Silence’ with Sarah McLachlan at the One World benefit concert, further expanding their global reach.

Their most recent studio album, Signs, released in 2023, showcases their enduring ability to evolve while retaining their signature sound. With a legacy spanning decades, Delerium’s consistent chart presence, critical awards, and ability to attract high-profile collaborators underline their significant and lasting impact on the global music scene.
