Delta Lea Goodrem was born in Sydney, New South Wales, on November 9, 1984. She started piano lessons at age seven, alongside dancing, acting, and singing. Goodrem secured a recording contract with Sony Music Australia at 15. In 2002, she took on the role of Nina Tucker in the Australian soap opera “Neighbours,” which aided her music career. Her debut album, “Innocent Eyes,” released in 2003, spent 29 non-consecutive weeks at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart, making it one of Australia’s highest-selling debut albums. This album also reached number two on the UK Albums Chart and generated five number-one singles in Australia.
In July 2003, Goodrem was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, which led to a temporary break from her career for treatment. Despite this, her music continued to achieve commercial success. Her second studio album, “Mistaken Identity” (2004), was recorded during her cancer treatment and also reached number one in Australia. Her third number-one album, “Delta,” followed in 2007. From 2012 to 2020, Goodrem served as a coach on “The Voice Australia” for eight seasons and on “The Voice Kids Australia” in 2014, nurturing winning artists in both. In 2018, she portrayed Olivia Newton-John in the biopic “Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You.”
Goodrem launched her own label, The House of Oz Records, under Sony Australia, and has achieved multi-platinum sales with nine number-one singles and five number-one albums. She has been recognized with 12 ARIA Awards, a Silver Logie Award, and three World Music Awards. Her philanthropic efforts include establishing the Delta Goodrem Foundation in 2020, focusing on funding medical research for blood cancers and auto-immune diseases in collaboration with St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. In 2022, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her contributions to the not-for-profit sector and performing arts. In 2023, Goodrem began releasing music independently under her own imprint, ATLED Records, and starred in the Netflix film “Love Is in the Air.”
