Dounia Tazi has transitioned from a prominent model and body-positive advocate to a Moroccan-American singer-songwriter, known for her alternative R&B sound and authentic storytelling. After charting in the top 10 of the iTunes R&B Chart with her debut 8-track EP ‘Intro To’ in October 2017, Dounia solidified her position as a captivating singer-songwriter. Prior to her musical breakthrough, Dounia built a significant platform as a prominent model and body-positive advocate, notably starring in campaigns for Forever 21, Sephora, and Refinery29, leveraging her considerable Instagram following. These modeling endeavors provided the financial foundation for her music career.
Dounia expanded her live performance footprint by opening for Christine and the Queens on various North American tour dates in late 2018 and performing at the Billboard Industry Nights showcase. Dounia maintained a rapid pace of releases and performances through 2019. She released singles ‘ROYAL’ and ‘LOWKEY GRL’ and her third EP, ‘NOT GOOD FOR THE EGO,’ on May 24, 2019. In July 2019, she unveiled her highly anticipated debut album, ‘The Scandal.’ Her dynamic stage presence was showcased at several major music festivals that spring, including BUKU Music + Art Project, SunFest, and Soundset Music Festival.
This recent work continues to showcase her journey from an influential online presence to a respected musical artist, further solidifying her unique space within the contemporary music landscape.
