Flipturn is an American indie rock band that has made significant strides in the music industry since its formation in 2015. Originating from Fernandina Beach, Florida, the band was founded by high school seniors Dillon Basse, Tristan Duncan, and Madeline Jarman. Their early years were marked by a commitment to honing their craft, which laid the groundwork for their future success. After completing their college education at the University of Florida, they expanded their lineup by welcoming guitarist Mitch Fountain and drummer Devon VonBalson, further enriching their sound.
The band’s breakthrough came in 2018 with the release of their EP, Citrona, which garnered attention and praise within the indie music scene. This momentum led to a significant milestone in June 2022 when Flipturn signed with Dualtone Records. Their debut album, Shadowglow, released in August 2022, received a warm reception from critics and fans alike, showcasing their unique blend of melodies and introspective lyrics. Following the album’s success, they embarked on a nationwide tour, performing at prestigious festivals such as Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo, solidifying their reputation as a rising force in the indie rock genre.
In November 2023, Flipturn announced their Something More Tour, set for Spring 2024, with support from fellow indie rock band Richy Mitch and the Coal Miners. This tour is a testament to their growing popularity and commitment to connecting with fans. On September 26, 2024, they released the single “Rodeo Clown,” which was accompanied by the announcement of their highly anticipated sophomore album, Burnout Days, scheduled for release in January 2025.
