GapX The Band, also known as Gap Experience, continues the musical journey of the legendary group The Gap Band. This iteration features founding members Oliver Scott, Billy Young, Roman Johnson, and Baby Gap, all of whom previously wrote, recorded, and toured with The Gap Band. Their collective experience ensures the preservation of the original rhythm and funk that defined The Gap Band’s sound.

GapX The Band is recognized for maintaining the authenticity of The Gap Band’s music, performing classic hits such as “Outstanding,” “Burn Rubber On Me,” “You Dropped a Bomb On Me,” “Early In The Morning,” “Yearning For Your Love,” and “Party Train.” This group differentiates itself from typical tribute bands by comprising members who were integral to the original band’s success. With the addition of lead singer Max C and guitarist Marlon McClain, GapX The Band blends classic sounds with contemporary production, resulting in live performances that are both electric and true to the band’s roots.

The original Gap Band was formed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1967, by brothers Charlie, Ronnie, and Robert Wilson, along with other musicians. The band’s name was derived from the streets Greenwood, Archer, and Pine in their hometown. The group gained prominence in the 1970s and 1980s, achieving chart success with their R&B and funk music. Their influential sound and numerous hit singles left a lasting mark on the music industry, with many of their tracks being sampled by subsequent artists.
