Got7 is a prominent South Korean boy band formed by JYP Entertainment, debuting in January 2014 with their first EP “Got It?” which achieved remarkable success, peaking at number two on the Gaon Album Chart and number one on Billboard’s World Albums Chart. The group quickly gained recognition for their dynamic live performances that incorporate martial arts tricking and street dancing, setting them apart in the K-pop industry. Their unique style and energetic choreography earned them the nickname “post 2PM,” drawing comparisons to their senior group, 2PM.
In late 2014, Got7 expanded their reach by signing with Sony Music Entertainment Japan, releasing their debut Japanese single “Around the World.” Their first full-length studio album, “Identify,” topped charts in South Korea, solidifying their status as a leading act. The group continued to release successful EPs and albums, including the commercially successful “Just Right” and the Flight Log series, which collectively sold over 300,000 copies, showcasing their growing popularity and artistic evolution.
Throughout their career, Got7 has consistently broken records and achieved significant milestones, including being the first Korean act to chart on Billboard’s Artist 100 since Psy. Their innovative approach to music and performance has led to numerous awards, including the “New Artist Award” at the Golden Disc Awards and a Grand Prize at the Asia Artist Awards for Performance of the Year.
After departing from JYP Entertainment in January 2021, Got7 focused on solo projects but reunited in 2022 with their self-titled EP, “Got7,” marking a new chapter in their career. As they prepare for their upcoming album “Winter Heptagon” in January 2025, Got7 continues to inspire fans worldwide with their music and philanthropic efforts, including significant donations to various causes and initiatives to support disadvantaged youth.
