Born on March 12, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dave Hause began his musical journey in the mid-1990s within the hardcore and punk rock genres. He played guitar in Step Ahead, which released one album, and later co-founded The Curse, where he contributed guitar and shared vocals. The Curse released two songs on “The Philadelphia Sound” and a six-track EP before disbanding in 2003. During this period, he also provided guitar and backing vocals for Paint It Black, contributing to their 2003 album “CVA.” These early experiences laid the groundwork for his future endeavors across various musical styles.
In April 2004, Hause formed The Loved Ones, where he served as frontman, releasing a self-titled EP in 2005 and two full-length albums, “Keep Your Heart” (2006) and “Build & Burn” (2008), on Fat Wreck Chords. Around 2009, he began exploring solo material, performing within Chuck Ragan’s Revival Tour. His debut solo album, “Resolutions,” was released in 2011 via Paper + Plastick. This marked a shift towards a more singer-songwriter-oriented style, blending elements of punk, Americana, and heartland rock. He continued to release solo material, including a series of five 7-inch singles in 2012, before signing with Rise Records, which re-released “Resolutions” in 2013.
Hause’s solo career progressed with albums such as “Devour” (2013), “Bury Me in Philly” (2017), and “Kick” (2019), consistently touring extensively across North America and Europe. For his 2017 album “Bury Me In Philly,” he formed his backing band, The Mermaid, which included his brother Tim Hause. In 2021, he established his own record label, Blood Harmony Records, co-owned with Tim, and released his fifth studio album, “Blood Harmony.” He followed this with “Drive It Like It’s Stolen” in 2023 and has announced “Versus” (2024) and “Nurses” and “…and The Mermaid” for 2025.
