Hunter Hayes was born on September 9, 1991, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. He began performing at age 2 and made appearances on national television shortly after. At age 7, he performed for President Bill Clinton at the White House. He released several independent albums, including “Through My Eyes” (2000), “Make a Wish” (2001), “Holidays with Hunter” (2003), “Honoring Our French Heritage” (2006), and “Songs About Nothing” (2008). In 2008, Hayes moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and signed a songwriting deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. His musical abilities extend to over 30 instruments.
In 2011, Hayes signed with Atlantic Records Nashville and released his self-titled debut album, which reached number seven on the Billboard 200 and number one on Top Country Albums. The album sold over 1.1 million copies. His single “Wanted” sold over 3.5 million copies, making him the youngest male act to top the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. This period included opening for Taylor Swift’s Speak Now World Tour in 2011 and Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away Tour in 2012. He was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2012 and received three Grammy nominations in 2013, including Best New Artist.
Hayes’s second studio album, “Storyline,” was released in 2014. To promote this album and raise awareness for child hunger, he broke a Guinness World Record for the most concerts played in multiple cities within 24 hours. His debut album was certified double platinum by the RIAA in 2014. In 2019, Hayes released “Wild Blue (Part I),” the first in a three-part album series, followed by “Wild Blue Complete” in 2021 and “Red Sky” in 2023. He also appeared on “The Masked Singer” in 2020 as “Astronaut.”
