Achieving a landmark feat as the first Italian artists to sign directly with an American record label, Geffen Records, the operatic pop trio Il Volo comprised of Gianluca Ginoble, Piero Barone, and Ignazio Boschetto first emerged on the Italian televised singing competition ‘Ti lascio una canzone’ in 2009, where their combined vocal talent led to their formation. Discovered by Italian music producer Tony Renis via Rai International, they secured their groundbreaking recording deal and, after rebranding as Il Volo in late 2010, released their self-titled debut album. The album peaked at number 6 on the Italian Albums Chart and achieved platinum certification. Its international edition, released in the U.S.
The trio followed with the album ‘Musica’ in 2019, which coincided with the release of ‘Il Volo: The Best of 10 Years,’ marking a decade of international success. In 2021, Il Volo honored the legendary composer Ennio Morricone with a special concert held at the iconic Arena of Verona, preceding the release of their dedicated album ‘Il Volo Sings Morricone’ later that year. In 2024, Il Volo returned to the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival, competing with their song ‘Capolavoro,’ further solidifying their enduring presence in Italian music. Concurrently, the trio released their latest album, ‘Ad Astra,’ in 2024, continuing to captivate global audiences with their signature blend of operatic pop and classical influences.
