Following the September 2008 premiere of their self-titled 22-minute show on Playhouse Disney, which later transitioned to Disney Junior, Imagination Movers established themselves as Emmy-winning global children’s entertainment stars. Formed in 2003 by Rich Collins, Scott K Durbin, Dave Poche, and Scott ‘Smitty’ Smith, the group independently released three CDs’Good Ideas’ (2003), ‘Calling All Movers’ (2004), and ‘Eight Feet’ (2005)and the DVD ‘Stir It Up’ (2004). These releases collectively garnered fourteen national awards from organizations including the National Association of Parenting Publications (NAPPA) and Parents’ Choice, attracting Disney’s attention in 2005. A deal was signed in spring 2006, leading to a pilot episode and music videos appearing on Disney Channel.
The Movers wrote and performed all songs for their critically acclaimed series, earning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song for ‘Boing, Cluck, Cluck’ in 2009. Imagination Movers maintained a robust touring schedule, including the ‘Live from the Idea Warehouse Concert Tour’ (2009) and the ‘In a Big Warehouse Concert Tour’ (2011), performing over 100 shows. This success garnered a Pollstar cover feature in 2009 and a #79 ranking on Pollstar’s Top 100 North American tours in 2011. Their discography expanded with ‘For Those About to Hop’ (2009), ‘In a Big Warehouse’ (2010), and the ‘Rock-O-Matic’ CD/DVD (2012), supported by a North American tour from March to October 2012.
In 2022, their song ‘Watermelon Meow Meow’ achieved viral success, accumulating over 20 million streams on Spotify. Imagination Movers commemorated their 20th anniversary in 2023 with the release of ‘Coveralls: Songs from the Imagination Movers’ and a performance at Lollapalooza. In 2024, Imagination Movers expanded globally with performances in Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Spain. They released their 11th studio album, ‘BLUE SKIES,’ on June 18, 2024, and are slated to release new music in 2025.
