Intocable is a Grammy-winning American band deeply rooted in Tejano and Norteño music, celebrated for blending traditional rhythms with contemporary balladry. After quickly rising to prominence in the early 1990s by fusing traditional Tejano and Norteño music with modern pop sensibilities, Intocable went on to establish a distinctive sound, appealing to a broad audience. Formed by Ricky Muñoz and René Martínez, the groups musical approach, characterized by robust conjunto rhythms from Texas, folk elements of Norteño music, romantic melodies, and tight instrumentation, quickly made them a significant influence in the regional Mexican music scene. The band released their debut album, ‘Fuego Eterno’, with EMI Latin in 1994.
Breaking new ground for their genre, Intocable became the first band to perform at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium halftime show in 2011 and also the first to headline The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Their consistent success has been recognized with numerous accolades, including their first Grammy Award in 2005 for ‘Íntimamente’ in the Best Mexican-American Album category, followed by a second Grammy Award in 2011 for ‘Classic’ as Best Norteño Album. They have also been honored with multiple Latin Grammy and Premio Lo Nuestro awards. Further showcasing their impact, Intocable was honored with the Billboard Latin Music Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
Expanding their global reach, Intocable headlined the SXAmericas All Latino Showcase at SXSW in 2016 and performed their first concert in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 2017. Most recently, Intocable released their highly anticipated album ‘Modus Operandi’ in 2024, continuing to build on their legacy as pioneers in regional Mexican music and maintaining their status as an influential force in contemporary music.
