Jim Peterik

Jim Peterik is an American musician and songwriter recognized for his contributions as a founder of Survivor and The Ides of March, as well as for co-writing the Grammy Award-winning song “Eye of the Tiger.” After achieving widespread success with his band The Ides of March, whose hit ‘Vehicle’ reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May 1970 and became one of the fastest-selling singles in Warner Bros. Records’ history at the time, Jim Peterik went on to establish himself as a prolific musician and songwriter. With The Ides of March, Peterik also saw hits like ‘You Wouldn’t Listen’ and ‘L.A. Goodbye’ in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

He officially left Survivor in 1996. Throughout his career, Peterik has been a sought-after songwriter for numerous artists, penning major hits such as ‘Hold On Loosely,’ ‘Caught Up in You,’ and ‘Rockin’ into the Night’ for 38 Special, as well as ‘Heavy Metal’ for Sammy Hagar. His collaborative spirit led him to work with musical legends including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Brian Wilson, REO Speedwagon, and The Beach Boys, for whom he co-wrote tracks for their 2012 reunion album, ‘That’s Why God Made the Radio.’ In 1990, he orchestrated the reunion of the original Ides of March members, continuing to perform with the group, and in 2003, he founded the melodic rock supergroup Pride of Lions, releasing the solo album ‘Above the Storm’ in 2006. Peterik released his critically acclaimed autobiography, ‘Through The Eye Of The Tiger,’ in 2014, followed by ‘The Songs’ in 2016.

Demonstrating his enduring influence and commitment to music, he produced ‘Tigress Women Who Rock The World’ in 2021. Jim Peterik remains an active and respected figure in the music industry, continuing to perform, produce, and mentor upcoming talent.
