Jon Anderson

Jon Anderson’s distinguished career began in 1962 as a lead vocalist for The Warriors. After his tenure with the group, he released two solo singles under the pseudonym Hans Christian Anderson in 1968. In March 1968, Anderson co-founded Mabel Greer’s Toyshop with bassist Chris Squire, which quickly evolved into the iconic progressive rock band Yes. As lead vocalist and a primary creative force, Anderson co-authored many of the band’s major hits including ‘I’ve Seen All Good People,’ ‘Roundabout,’ and ‘Owner Of A Lonely Heart.’ He was central to the creation of complex pieces such as ‘Close to the Edge,’ ‘Awaken,’ and ‘The Gates of Delirium.’ Yes released their eponymous debut album in 1969, initiating a classic period from 1968 to 1980 that yielded 11 critically acclaimed albums.

In 1989, he co-founded Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe (ABWH), leading to the Yes album ‘Union’ in 1991. Demonstrating a prolific output, Anderson released a string of solo albums including ‘Deseo’ (1994), ‘Change We Must’ (1994), the ambient ‘Angel’s Embrace’ (1995), the conceptual ‘Toltec’ (1996), ‘The Promise Ring’ (1997), ‘Earth Mother Earth’ (1997), and ‘The More You Know’ (1998). His unique alto tenor vocal style and mystically-themed lyrics, often inspired by literature and spiritual concepts, continued to define his work. In 2005, he released the live DVD ‘Tour of The Universe’, and collaborated with Rick Wakeman on ‘The Living Tree’ in 2010.

Most recently, Anderson embarked on the ‘Yes Epics & Classics Tour’ with The Band Geeks in 2023, culminating in the release of their collaborative album ‘True’ in 2024. Anderson’s enduring influence and artistry make him a revered figure in progressive rock.
