Karla Bonoff

Karla Bonoff is an American singer-songwriter recognized for her compositions for other artists and her own successful recordings. After gaining significant recognition when Linda Ronstadt recorded three of her compositions—’Someone To Lay Down Beside Me,’ ‘Lose Again,’ and ‘If He’s Ever Near’—for Ronstadt’s critically acclaimed 1976 album, Hasten Down the Wind, Karla Bonoff transitioned into a distinguished solo recording artist. Early in her career, Bonoff also contributed background vocals for fellow musicians including Linda Ronstadt and Wendy Waldman. She signed with Columbia Records, releasing her self-titled debut album in 1977, which showcased her exceptional songwriting and vocal talent.

Bonoff’s prolific songwriting has seen continued success through covers by renowned artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Wynonna Judd, and Lynn Anderson. Her collaborative duet ‘All My Life’ with Aaron Neville in 1989 earned a Grammy Award, marking a significant milestone in her career. A greatest hits collection, All My Life: The Best of Karla Bonoff, was released in 1999. Karla Bonoff released a Live album in 2007, showcasing her enduring performance prowess.

Demonstrating her versatility and continued artistry, she released Carry Me Home in 2018, an album featuring acoustic versions of her cherished songs. In 2020, she released Silent Night, a Christmas album, further cementing her legacy as a revered singer-songwriter who continues to tour and record, maintaining a consistent presence in the music industry.
