Kevin Cronin is an American singer, musician, and songwriter, widely recognized as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band REO Speedwagon, known for his vocal contributions to hit songs and touring performances.

Kevin Patrick Cronin Jr. was born on October 6, 1951, in Evanston, Illinois, and raised in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He began playing guitar at age fourteen and was part of his first professional band, Fuchsia. Cronin joined REO Speedwagon shortly after their debut album in 1971, recording the 1972 album R.E.O./T.W.O. He temporarily left the band due to creative differences, pursuing a brief solo career before rejoining in 1976. His return marked a significant period for the band, leading to their most famous album, Hi Infidelity, which sold over 10 million copies.
Throughout his career with REO Speedwagon, Cronin wrote or co-wrote many hit songs, including the chart-toppers “Keep On Loving You” (1980) and “Can’t Fight This Feeling” (1984), as well as “Keep the Fire Burnin'”, “I Do’ Wanna Know”, “Keep Pushin'”, “Roll with the Changes”, “Time for Me to Fly”, “Here with Me”, “In My Dreams”, and “Don’t Let Him Go”. His work has contributed to the band’s enduring presence on the Billboard Hot 100 throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In 2008, he participated as a celebrity contestant on ‘Don’t Forget the Lyrics!’, reaching a significant sum before missing lyrics.
In January 2024, REO Speedwagon announced a tour with Train. Later in 2024, the band decided to cease touring due to internal disagreements. In December 2024, Cronin confirmed the end of REO Speedwagon as a touring entity and announced that he would continue with the current touring band members under a new name, performing the music of REO Speedwagon and new material. This new band includes Dave Amato on guitar, Bryan Hitt on drums, Derek Hilland on keys, and Matt Bissonette on bass.
