Charles Wesley Godwin

Charles Wesley Godwin independently released his debut album, ‘Seneca,’ on February 15, 2019. The album garnered critical acclaim, including recognition from Rolling Stone and NPR’s Mountain Stage, introducing his distinctive country-folk sound. This achievement followed his initial foray into music in 2013, where he began songwriting and playing guitar while studying finance at West Virginia University. Building on this foundation, Godwin released his second album, ‘How the Mighty Fall,’ in 2021, an exploration of mortality, hope, and regret, produced by Al Torrence.

In 2023, Godwin also contributed the song “Winter’s Come and Gone” to ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’ soundtrack, showcasing his versatility. His expanding reach led to performances on prominent national television programs, including ESPN’s Sportscenter, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and CBS Saturday Sessions. In 2024, he made highly anticipated debuts at major music festivals, performing at both Stagecoach and Bonnaroo, solidifying his presence on the national stage. Maintaining a prolific output, Godwin wrote nearly 30 new songs in 2024.

He released the 7-track EP, ‘Lonely Mountain Town,’ on February 28, 2024, via Big Loud, which included notable collaborations with ERNEST on ‘Dead To Rights’ and Scott Avett on a cover of Jason Molina’s “Hammer Down.” Further expanding his recorded catalog, Godwin is slated to release ‘Live From The Steel City’ in 2025.
