Lemar Obika is a British singer, songwriter, and record producer known for his successful music career and acting roles, including appearances in “De-Lovely” and “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.” After gaining significant public recognition as a contestant on the BBC’s talent show ‘Fame Academy’ in 2002, Lemar went on to secure a five-year, £1 million record deal with Sony Music. During his time on ‘Fame Academy,’ he notably performed Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together’ and a duet with Lionel Richie on ‘Easy.’ His second single, ‘Dance (with U),’ reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in early 2003. Lemar’s debut album, ‘Dedicated,’ released later that year, achieved double-platinum certification by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and included top 10 singles such as ’50/50′ and ‘Another Day.’ Following a successful UK tour for ‘Dedicated,’ Lemar opened for Justin Timberlake’s UK dates. Lemar released ‘The Hits’ in 2010, a compilation featuring ten hits and four new tracks, including a duet with JLS. He followed this with the single ‘Invincible’ in 2012 and ‘The Letter’ in 2015, which also served as the title track for his album released that year. In 2018, he appeared as a contestant on the tenth series of ITV’s ‘Dancing on Ice.’ Expanding his acting career, Lemar starred as Danny in the 2022 mini-series ‘Little Darlings’ and later appeared as Lord Smythe-Smith in a 2023 episode of ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.’ In 2023, he released the single ‘Future Love’ and the album ‘Page in My Heart.’ The artist continued his diverse career in 2024, participating as ‘Cricket’ on ITV’s ‘The Masked Singer.’ Most recently, Lemar starred as Curtis Jackson in London’s West End revival of ‘Sister Act.’ He also toured with JLS during their summer tour. Early in his career, he supported artists such as Destiny’s Child and Total on their UK club tours, demonstrating his consistent presence in the music industry.
