Leon Thomas made his Broadway debut in 2003 as Young Simba in ‘The Lion King,’ quickly establishing himself as a versatile performer. He continued his theatrical career, appearing as Jackie Thibodeaux in ‘Caroline, or Change’ in 2004 and later in ‘The Color Purple.’ Thomas transitioned to film and television with a role as Arthur in the 2007 film ‘August Rush,’ where he performed the song ‘La Bamba,’ and lent his singing voice to the character Tyrone in ‘The Backyardigans’ from 2006 to 2008. He also made guest appearances on shows like ‘Jack’s Big Music Show,’ ‘Just Jordan,’ and ‘iCarly’ in 2008, laying the groundwork for widespread recognition. Thomas garnered significant public attention for his main role as Andre Harris on the Nickelodeon series ‘Victorious,’ which aired from 2010 to 2013.
He released his debut studio album, ‘Electric Dusk,’ in 2023. The year 2024 proved monumental, as Thomas won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song for his contribution to SZA’s ‘Snooze’ and was featured as a writer and producer on ‘Burn’ from ¥$’s (Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign) ‘Vultures 1.’ His second album, ‘Mutt,’ released in 2024, debuted on the Billboard 200, with its lead single ‘Mutt’ peaking at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. Thomas is set to release his PHOLKS EP in October 2025, with an upcoming track ‘Brown Sugar’ featuring Dylan Sinclair in June 2025, and an NPR Tiny Desk version of ‘Mutt’ scheduled for August 2025.
