Lights, also known as Valerie Anne Poxleitner-Bokan, is a Juno Award-winning Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter known for her electropop and synth-pop sound, collaborating with various artists and touring internationally. After contributing music to the CTV series ‘Instant Star’ in 2007, Juno Award-winning artist Lights launched her recording career, signing with Underground Operations and Warner Bros. in 2008. That same year, she released her self-titled EP, featuring the successful single ‘Drive My Soul,’ which climbed to No.
Lights continued her trajectory with her second studio album, ‘Siberia,’ released in 2011, which earned a Juno Award nomination for Pop Album of the Year and was certified gold in Canada by 2012. She later released ‘Siberia Acoustic’ in 2013, demonstrating her versatility. Her third studio album, ‘Little Machines,’ arrived in 2014, securing the Juno Award for Pop Album of the Year in 2015. In 2016, she released the acoustic EP ‘Midnight Machines’ and was featured in the video game ‘LOUD on Planet X,’ further expanding her creative output.
In 2024, she collaborated with Felix Cartal again on ‘Feel Less’ and released the single ‘Damage.’ Her second single ‘Alive Again,’ released in 2025, marked her first entry on the Modern Rock charts in Canada. Lights is set to release her highly anticipated sixth record, ‘A6,’ in May 2025, continuing to innovate and perform globally.
