Dijon Duenas, born on June 9, 1992, in Washington state, experienced a childhood marked by frequent relocations due to his parents’ military service, living in various places such as Germany, California, Hawaii, and Maryland. This exposure to diverse environments potentially influenced his musical perspective. He started making music at age sixteen. While attending the University of Maryland in Ellicott City, Maryland, he formed the alternative R&B duo Abhi//Dijon with Abhirath Raju. Between 2012 and 2016, the duo released two EPs and one compilation, concluding with the EP *Montana* in 2016.
After Abhi//Dijon amicably disbanded in 2016, Duenas moved to Los Angeles and began his solo career. His debut solo single, “Stranger,” was released in 2017, the same year he contributed backing vocals to Brockhampton’s *Saturation II*. Subsequent singles solidified his presence, with “Nico’s Red Truck” being named among the best songs of 2018 by Noisey. He released his first EP, *Sci Fi 1*, in 2019, followed by *How Do You Feel About Getting Married?* in 2020. During this period, he also co-produced “Pink Diamond” for Charli XCX’s album *How I’m Feeling Now* and released an experimental project *Mothership Coming* under the pseudonym Lillith, dedicating proceeds to various charitable organizations.
His debut studio album, *Absolutely*, was released on November 5, 2021, entirely self-produced alongside Mk.gee and accompanied by a film featuring live performances. The album’s single “Many Times” was notably included in Barack Obama’s 2022 summer playlist. He also made his television debut on *The Tonight Show* in January 2022. Dijon has collaborated with and contributed to projects by artists such as Bon Iver, Justin Bieber, Matt Champion, and Kenny Beats, further expanding his reach and influence in contemporary music. His second studio album, *Baby*, released in August 2025, received critical acclaim, leading to a North American and European tour. In September 2025, he made his acting debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film *One Battle After Another*.
