Pauline Thisse, known as Linh, was born on July 5, 1995, in Nice, France, into a family of musicians. Her early exposure to music included a guitarist and DJ father, a singer and pianist mother, and a pianist grandmother. She began singing at age four and started piano lessons at seven. At nine, Linh joined the children’s choir of the Opéra de Nice, developing her vocal and performance skills from a young age. During her adolescence, Linh performed in various venues, including bars, restaurants, private events, and beaches along the French Riviera. She participated in the singing competition ‘Iapiap!’ on Canal J in 2009. Linh also studied musical theater in Cannes and shared song covers online, building an early foundational presence.
In 2011, Linh, alongside her younger brother Julien, appeared on the television game show ‘N’oubliez pas les paroles!’, winning 10,000 €. They had previously participated in ‘X Factor.’ In 2012, at 17, she competed in the first season of ‘The Voice’ on TF1, again with her brother. She later joined the musical reality show ‘Las Vegas Academy’ on W9 in 2013. Linh pursued a university education, earning a degree in language sciences, while continuing to sing live. After not being accepted into a speech therapy school, she chose to move to Paris to pursue a music career, viewing it as a victory of passion over reason, driven by her parents’ unfulfilled musical aspirations.
In 2018, Linh reconnected with Sacha Tran, a beatmaker and fellow ‘The Voice’ season one participant, leading to a musical collaboration. They launched a crowdfunding campaign, releasing tracks like ‘Bulle’ in 2020 and ‘Minimum’ in 2021, which highlighted her vocals. Linh gained significant recognition in 2021 after being discovered on TikTok by Gims’ label, Black Star Music. She subsequently opened for Gims’ ‘Décennie Tour’ in 2022. In early 2024, Linh released ‘Je pense à vous,’ a melancholic piano-vocal ballad that quickly achieved over 10 million streams on Spotify, ranking first in French variety Shazam charts and ninth in French radio airplay by year-end. Her debut EP, ‘Signé, Linh,’ featuring five tracks, was released in October 2024, praised for its sincerity and blend of styles. She continued opening for Gims’ ‘Le Dernier Tour’ in 2024 and 2025. In early 2025, Linh participated in a collective single for ‘Opération Pièces jaunes.’ Her song ‘Je pense à vous’ achieved gold certification and later diamond certification by summer 2025.
